Southeast States Outpacing National Jobs Recovery

States in the Southeast have fared better in terms of job losses and recovery than the U.S. average, with Raleigh, NC, leading the charge.

States in the Southeast have fared better in terms of job losses and recovery than the U.S. average, with Raleigh, NC, leading the charge. 

Strong population growth and relatively lighter and shorter restrictions have contributed to a faster economic recovery, paving the way for Atlanta, Birmingham, Charlotte, Nashville and Savannah to recoup all jobs lost in 2022.

Southeast regional employment declined by 12-13% but has rebounded to around 98% of pre-pandemic levels in Georgia, Tennessee, Alabama and North Carolina.
