Southwest & Mountain West States Outpacing National Jobs Recovery

Most states in the Southwest and Mountain West are ahead of the national recovery.

Utah and Idaho have both fully recovered all jobs lost, and employment exceeds pre-pandemic levels. Arizona, Colorado and Nevada saw huge employment declines amidst the pandemic, but all are now within 7% or less of pre-pandemic levels.

Fueled by population growth in larger metro areas, Southwest and Mountain West states will have fewer challenges sourcing local talent, as compared to other areas of the country.
